Overview
Coolant pump failure is a known fault on the Jaguar XE with the 2.0 Ingenium petrol engine. The electric coolant pump is a wear item and can fail without warning — sometimes before any coolant loss is visible. Left unaddressed, coolant pump failure leads to engine overheating and potential head gasket damage.
Symptoms

What Causes It?

- ✕Coolant pump bearing failure causing noise before full failure

- ✕Air lock in the cooling system from previous repair
The Solution
JLRMAN diagnoses XE cooling system faults using SDD to read coolant temperature data and check for pump fault codes. We pressure-test the cooling system to check for leaks and assess pump output. Coolant pump replacement is a planned repair and we always include a coolant system bleed and leak test on completion. We recommend a coolant flush if the existing coolant is aged or contaminated.
